Back to the Atrium

12 April 2005

Dear Classmates:

Peggy Buecher has died. It happened sometime between 10 PM on Friday night, when Mike York spoke to her by phone, and Saturday morning, when a friend found her in her home. Peggy had arthroscopic knee surgery a few days before, and this could have been the result of a blood clot from that. It was entirely sudden and unexpected. There will be an autopsy. As you can imagine, her family is devastated, as are we her close friends.

Peggy's daughter, Janet Truncale, has told me that a memorial gathering will occur on Tuesday at Dooley's funeral home on 556 Westfield Ave. in Westfield, NJ. It will be held from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. On Wednesday, there will be a memorial service at the Presbyterian Church in Mountainside on Deer Path Road.

What can anyone say about Peggy at this point without crying? It is very difficult to lose her so early. I will never forget her smile, her voice, and her wry humor. What a treasure. And what a gift that we had her in our lives at all. Stay close mates. One never knows when that last smile we see will have to last for the rest of our lives.

As you can see, I am mailing this to a very incomplete list of 57ites. Please forward it on ASAP to as many people as you can. Many local folks may want to pay their last respects. Others will want to know also.

Fred
